Kenai Peninsula Fish Habitat Science Symposium

KPFHP has hosted a science symposium every other year since 2013. The symposium helps realize our mission of maintaining, restoring and enhancing fish habitat by creating space for collaboration between the many agencies and organizations doing fish habitat work across the Kenai Peninsula. Collaboration is crucial to reduce redundancy in research, fill information gaps, allow for resource sharing, generate new ideas, and connect with diverse stakeholders and decision-makers to ensure healthy salmon habitat persists into the future.

In 2023, the symposium was held in Kenai and co-hosted by the Kenai Peninsula Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area. Over 95 people attended the two day symposium and heard presentations from 27 individuals on a variety of topics; such as climate change, invasive species, green infrastructure, proposed development projects, barriers to fish passage, pollution, and habitat restoration.
